I haven’t posted much because the one project we have going on is still going on…I wonder if it will ever get done.
We had decided we wanted to add an additional bathroom to the main floor but where? My father came for a visit and we decided we could cut a hole in our mudroom wall and use currently unused space in the garage. I scoured over Houzz and Pinterest and Google images to find ideas for a small powder room. There are some amazingly clever uses of space. There were quite a few bathrooms under stairs, in previous closets and using small unused areas of homes. I saw dental sinks and modern sinks for areas that did not have the depth for a traditional sink. It just goes to show if there is a will there is a way!
Let’s hope this goes our way when it is done!
Here are some in progress pictures.
We have an over-sized two car garage and if you are facing the interior wall of the garage as you pull in, and then look to your right there was a little nook between the garage landing and that front wall. We were just using that nook to store an extra refrigerator and decided that was the best place to put the powder room.
The half bath will be small using an area of only 4 ft x 5ft.
Since this last picture, we have all the plumbing and electric completed and the insulation installed, we have passed our latest inspection so now we are at the point where we have to cut into the drywall from the inside of the house.
I am doing very simple fixtures in the powder room a pedestal sink and round instead of elongated toilet. I am also doing tile that looks like hardwood for the flooring.
We will lay the tile perpendicular. I tried both ways and like the contrast. I am hoping we will have in completed by Easter!
Here is a picture that is showing the same layout we will use but we will not have a window looking out into our garage LOL!
Hopefully soon I will have completed pictures to share.
