Well we had the Spy Party in 2007 followed by the Wizard of Oz. I am not even sure how my daughter picked the theme. If I had to guess she feel in love with a picnic basket with Toto in it from Party City and asked to be Dorothy for Halloween. Her birthday is two days before Halloween so we ran with it.
Again 2007 was not my year for pictures, but we started the party by lining the walkway to the front door with a roll of yellow paper and and I stuffed nylons with tissue paper and placed red slippers on them, they were taped to the bottom of the front door as if the door had fallen on the wicked witch.
We all had our part and of course I was the Witch, my sweet husband was the scarecrow and even my son played the part of the Tin-man
This was before the time of Pinterest when we had to rely on Family Fun magazine and Martha Stewart crafts at Michaels and of the course Oriental Trading Company which is where we found the adorable Shrinky dink Wizard of Oz bracelet kits.
We also had the kids ice and decorate with red crystals their own sugar cookie ruby slippers, I had to make a template from poster board. I didn’t grab any pictures but it was a joyous mess!
During Halloween Martha Stewart has a wide variety of crafts that also work perfect for this party them. Both the witch hats and the broomsticks were purchased at Michaels.
I am sure this would wind up on cake wrecks but it was perfect for our little Dorothy. You should have seen me at our local candy boutique only picking out the yellow Lego candy pieces. Emerald city is just green rock candy.
I think I spy a Ruby slipper sugar cookie to the left 🙂 and white Chocolate Ruby slippers on the cake.
